In Goshinkan-Ryu Ju Jitsu we use a traditional color belt system consisting of six color belts after belt white belt. Rokyu - 6th Kyu Yellow Belt belt ; Gokyu - 5th Kyu Orange Belt belt ; Yonkyu - 4th Kyu Green Belt belt ; Sankyu - 3rd Kyu Blue Belt belt ; Nikyu - 2nd Kyu Purple Belt belt ; Ikkyu - 1st Kyu Brown Belt belt ; Shodan - 1st Degree Black Belt belt .

There are specific physical and time requirements for each Color Belt Level before being eligible to grade and promote to the next level. The listed requirements are a standard, but in certain circumstances a Sensei or Shihan may request the student grade sooner or be held off longer from the test.
